CHOCK FULL OF STARRY GOODNESS…

Will Mark Wahlberg Take Up Where Brandon Lee Left Off?

Actor Mark Wahlberg of movies such as The Other Guys, The Lovely Bones and Boogie Nights is rumored to have been offered the lead role in next years remake of the cult classic, The Crow.

The Crow, released in 1994, starred Brandon Lee, son of martial arts legend, Bruce Lee, and during filming of the movie, Brandon was tragically killed when a prop gun was misfired and killed the young star.

Although nothing has yet been confirmed, Mark Wahlberg has been rumored to have been offered the same role as Brandon in the remake of the film that would be released some time in 2011.

Other actors that are rumored to be potential leads in the upcoming movie include Ethan Peck of The Sorcerer’s Apprentice and David Astone, who has appeared as a guest on several popular television shows including Melrose Place and True Blood.

So what do you think, Celebstalkers? Are you excited about the possibility of a remake of The Crow?

Do you have a favorite in mind for the lead role of Eric Draven?

What do you think about Mark taking the lead in the movie?

Mark Wahlberg, really? I just checked out that link to David Astone and he is amazing. I think they should choose him. Brandon Lee was incredible and I think that the David Astone guy has that same sort of presence.

Why does this film need to be remade? The Crow was a fantastic film – and released in 1994, so it’s hardly out of date. Brandon Lee epitomised Eric Draven, the role he will always be remembered for – in some ways tragically, in others because he gave a great performance.

My personal belief is that, as a mark of respect to Brandon, there should be NO remake. This film was dedicated to his memory and should remain so. Had the film not been very good then a remake would be more understandable, but it was a classic of its genre. Remakes should only be done if they stand a chance of being better than the original, and I don’t think The Crow can be improved upon.

If a remake is done, Mark Wahlberg would be utterly unsuitable for the role of ED. Nothing against his acting, he’s good, but this role is not for him. Plus I don’t find many of those big Hollywood names particularly believable any more. I always see the star and not the character nowadays… Leave The Crow alone (sorry for the rant)!

I think David Astone would be great. He’s already got the look down. Give someone “newer” to the acting community a chance to shine!

David Astone would definately suit the role best, and do the role justice. His screen audition speaks for itself. He is a young man with lots of drive, dedication, and will power to succeed, he would definately do the role justice. I can’t wait to see the movie!

  18. Oh Please stop and get a life! Mark is clearly not the man for the job! David Astone on the other hand is a well oiled machine who knows his martial arts has a grand sense of humour and as far as I’m concerned His determination With his charming Crow like looks is the Man for the job!!!!! GO DAVID!!!!!!!!
